UPDATED Obituary: Harlan P. Mullen, 91, Almond

Almond - Harlan P. Mullen, 91, formerly of Karr Valley Road, Almond passed away Thursday (January 21, 2016) at the Wellsville Manor Hills, with his brother Roger Mullen by his side.
He was born in North Bingham, PA, April 8, 1924, the son of Irving and Bess (Empson) Mullen.
Harlan was very proud of his service in the Navy from 1944-46. He was stationed in the Phillipines during World War II.
He later married Marilyn (Dungan) Mullen in 1974, who predeceased him in 2007.
Harlan owned and operated Mullen’s Slaughter House on Karr Valley Road for 26 years, and later drove School Bus for Alfred Almond Central School until he was 81 years old.
Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by his brother Robert Mullen, his sister and brother in law Onalee and Charles Robinson of Gulf Breeze, Florida. He was also predeceased by his brother in law Theodore Root, and sisters in law Betty (Dungan) Washburn, Pauline (Knouff) Mullen, and Betty Ann (Lowe) Mullen, and also a nephew T. Donald Root, and a niece Sharon Robinson.
Harlan is survived by his son Jason P. Mullen of Almond, daughters Linda (David) Ryan of Odessa, NY, Mary (Mark) Schuster of Lima, NY, Janet (Larry) Egger of North Carolina, Christine Freeland of Almond, his brothers Alvah Mullen of Michigan, Roger Mullen of Almond, James (Virginia) Mullen of Wellsville, his sisters Wilma Root, Ruth “Marie” (Anthony) Changose, and sister in law Doris Mullen of Almond, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Harlan belonged to the Birdsall Grange, the Sampson Vets, the Almond Union of Churches, and the American Legion.

A Memorial Service will be on February 13, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Almond Union of Churches, with Rev. Thomas Raisner officiating. A Luncheon will follow the Memorial Service at the Church.
