UPDATE: Major apartment complex fire in Allegany...firefighters hurt

A late night three alarm fire caused serious damage to a two story apartment house on East Main Street in Allegany. Firefighters responded to the Emerald Hills complex about 20 minutes before midnight. Extra help was called in from Westons Mills, Limestone, Town of Olean and Hinsdale. Cuba, Killbuck and others provided standby coverage. Massive flames could be scene for some distance. Several occupants were displaced. It’s unclear right now if there were any injuries although some pets may have perished. The cause remains under investigation.
UPDATE FROM ALLEGANY FIRE DEPT.- Just a quick update in regards to the large fire at Emerald Hills apartment complex. All occupants were evacuated safety. 4 firefighters were hurt during the blaze. All were treated and released. The fire is currently under investigation. There were many families with young children that have lost everything, please contact the Red Cross if you can make any donations. A full story will be written as soon as we get some sleep.
