Cuba police use taser to take Portville man into custody

During a traffic stop in the village of Cuba at approximately 1a.m. Sunday, a young male operator in a pick up truck allegedly attempted to flee Cuba Police Department patrol units. Police said the man led patrol units on a low speed pursuit south on state route 305, where the pick up truck left the roadway and damaged multiple yards, mail boxes and shrubbery. The truck then struck a telephone pole while continuing to travel on route 305 before losing a wheel and coming to rest in a ditch. The operator then fled on foot, where Cuba Police officers gave chase and after 2 taser deployments, the operator of the truck was taken into custody. Kyle Wesley of Portville, was issued the following summons- 2 counts of failed to keep right, 2 counts of failed to stop at a stop sign, 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident, failure to comply with an emergency vehicle, resisting arrest and DWI. Kyle was arraigned and sent to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
