Deputies: Wellsville woman attempted to eat drugs

INTERSTATE 390 AVON: Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of Christi M. French, 41, of Wellsville, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (multiple counts), Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and the felony charge of tampering with physical evidence after she allegedly ate suspected drugs.  The charges were filed after a traffic stop as part of Operation Safe Interstate.  Sheriff's Deputy Shawn Whitford affected a traffic stop for an equipment violation on Interstate 390 as the vehicle exited off Interstate 390 at exit 10.  During the course of the traffic stop it is alleged that that French, who was a passenger in the vehicle, had several prescribed pain-killer doses which were classified as controlled substances, a Hypodermic Instrument, a baggie containing residue of suspected heroin, and a bag with a quantity of cocaine. It is also alleged that after French was placed under arrest by Deputy Whitford and was being transported to the Livingston County Jail, French did remove more illegal drugs that she had concealed down her pants and proceeded to eat the drugs in attempt to not be charged with them. The resulting charge was the felony of tampering with physical evidence. French was processed by Deputies at the Livingston County Jail last night and will be arraigned today in Avon Town Court at 4:00 p.m.
