A two-alarm fire was reported at 4:40 a.m. Monday on Newgalen Road in the town of Wayland. Perkinsville fire was the primary responding agency although a half dozen other agencies responded as well. The initial dispatch indicated there was possible entrapment. A passerby told 911 vehicles in the driveway were destroyed and the house was fully engulfed in flames. A fire chief reported the structure was "on the ground." Steuben County Emergency Services could not confirm whether anyone was actually inside the home, however, state police were investigating. The fire was declared under control at 6:23 a.m.. NYSEG responded to the scene when first responders reported energized power lines down. A propane leak was also reported, according to information on Broadcastify. Emergency Management told us at 9 a.m. that responders would likely remain on scene "for some time."
