Friendship woman arrested after low speed pursuit

An Allegany County woman was arrested Friday after leading Friendship police and state troopers on a relatively low speed pursuit. The pursuit lasted about 20 minutes and spanned several miles before ending on state route 19 near Howbills. Troopers charged Thelma L. Perkins, 51, of Friendship with reckless endangerment 2nd. She faces additional charges and warrants from Friendship police, although that agency could not be immediately reached. According to public safety radio reports, police deployed "spike strips" at two separate locations to stop Perkins. The first apparently missed and she veered to avoid the second attempt. Police then tried other measures to stop the woman but she remained evasive. Police finally boxed her vehicle in near the Belmont/Scio line and she was taken into custody.
