Police arrest Hornell man for promoting, possessing child pornography

On February 11, 2016, the New York State Police in conjunction with the New York State Police Computer Crime Unit in Canandaigua and the Hornell Police Department initiated an investigation involving a person allegedly promoting child pornography over the internet. State Police Investigator Jennifer Cole said the offenses occurred in the City of Hornell, NY.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Ryan D. Hamilton, age 24, #26 William St. in the City of Hornell.  He was charged with Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class D felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a child, a class E felony.

The arrest was the result of Hamilton allegedly sharing files using his computer that depicted children under the age of 16 engaged in sexual conduct.  The investigation is continuing.

Hamilton was arraigned in the City of Hornell court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail on $2,500 bail. Hamilton is scheduled to re-appear in the City of Hornell Court on February 18th, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.
