Steuben County issues travel advisory

Press release:
STEUBEN COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES AND THE STEUBEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONTINUES TO MONITOR THE WINTER STORM, WHICH HAS AFFECTED OUR REGION OVER THE PAST 12 HOURS.  STEADIER SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SUBSIDE LATER THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING.  HOWEVER, STEADY SNOWFALL THIS AFTERNOON ALONG WITH THIS MORNINGS ICING WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS AT TIMES AS WELL AS POSSIBLE POWER OUTAGES AND FLOODING IN LOW LYING AREAS.

BASED UPON THE FORECAST AND CURRENT DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE STEUBEN COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES & THE STEUBEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS A TRAVEL ADVISORY. STEUBEN COUNTY ROADWAYS ARE SNOW COVERED BUT PASSABLE AT THIS TIME.  HOWEVER, MOTORISTS ARE RECOMMENDED TO USE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE TRAVELING THIS AFTERNOON.  IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO TRAVEL PLEASE STAY HOME.  THIS IS NOT A TRAVEL BAN.  THIS TRAVEL ADVISORY WILL ALLOW PLOW CREWS TIME TO CLEAR ROADS AND ALLOW BETTER ACCESS FOR COMMUTERS.
