Wellsville man charged with promoting prison contraband

Allegany County Sheriff Rick Whitney reports that following an investigation at the Allegany County Jail, the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and deputies arrested Rodney L. Nelson III, age 35 of 108 ½ North Main Street in Wellsville, for the following charges:
- Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st Degree.
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.
The arrest stems from an incident in which Nelson allegedly introduced one tramadol pill, a schedule 4 controlled substance, into the County Jail after being transported on other, unrelated charges.
Nelson was arrested without incident at the Sheriff’s Office, processed and transported to the Town of Friendship Court where he was remanded back to the County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 Insurance Company Bond.  Nelson is to reappear in the Town of Amity Court on February 24th, 2016 for additional court action.
