WLEA radio: Meth lab may have triggered Hornell fire

HORNELL, NY – There was a structure fire early this morning in the 2am hour in Hornell, at 9 Olive Place. Hornell Fire Chief Dan Smith says that there was smoke coming from a rear upstairs window and called for additional help from off duty firefighters. The fire chief says the first arriving crew encountered a fully involved bedroom fire, and that there was extensive fire damage to the bedroom with minor smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the apartment. While the Cause of the Fire is under investigation, fire chief Smith reports that chemicals and containers consistent with the production of Methamphetamine were present in the bedroom that was involved in fire.
