Two of our more exciting programs are returning this year. Ardent Solutions is once again helping us bring Dr. Robert Wahler, Clinical Assistant Professor from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy, to offer an enlightening workshop on The Effects Medications Have on Falls in older adults. After his presentation, participants will receive a FREE Medication Fall Risk Assessment and educational consult with a University of Buffalo Pharmacy student. Pre-registration by March 14 is required for this session and seating is limited. Please specify you are registering for this break out session when registering for the Forum.
Also, Jones Memorial Hospital will again offer their Wellness Clinic with free screenings for Blood Pressure, Cholesterol & Glucose, Balance Assessment, Bone Density Testing, Flexibility Assessment, and information on Smoking Cessation and “Create Your Weight.”
Amanda Oglesbee and Carlyn Yanda will join us with a program on The Healing Power of Tai Chi. Tai Chi is a gentle, low impact form of exercise that is rapidly spreading throughout the world. The millions of people who practice it are living a more active life than those who don’t, and Western doctors are now recommending it to their patients, especially the elderly.
Colleen Truax of Jones Memorial Hospital will present on Allegany County Million Hearts, a program that will help you explore the risk factors for heart disease and stroke, help you learn the signs and symptoms, and learn about the ABC’s of cardiovascular disease.
Evan Enke, a Professor of Computer and Information Technology at Alfred State College, will give you tips and suggestions on Protecting Your Computer Identity. Anyone who uses the internet for any program will benefit from this informative session.
Chris Martelle and Dave Helmer of the Wellsville Fire Department will bring Pluggie the Robotic Fire Plug to teach about Fire Prevention-Keep Your Family Safe.
Brendan Heaney, an English instructor at Fillmore Central School, will entertain and enlighten through a reenactment of The Life of Moses Van Campen. Major Moses Van Campen was a soldier during the American Revolutionary War and a prominent figure in Pennsylvania and parts of New York. Mr. Van Campen was a Revolutionary War veteran, Indian fighter and surveyor. He served as judge, justice of the peace and as Allegany County treasurer. Moses Van Campen built a home in Angelica, New York around 1809.
