Caneadea man charged with drug possession, outstanding warrants

AVON – Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of Joseph A. Palma, 29, of Caneada, N.Y. for drug possession following a traffic stop. Sheriff's Deputy Shawn Whitford conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation on West Henrietta Road (Route 15) in the Town of Avon.  During the course of the traffic stop a passenger in the vehicle, Joseph A. Palma, allegedly reported to the Deputy a false name. Palma later admitted that he lied about his name due to him having three warrants for his arrest; two in Monroe County for Petit Larceny and one in Allegany County for a Family Court Violation. Palma was also allegedly found to be in possession of heroin.  Palma was arrested roadside for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree.   Palma was turned over to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre arraignment detention.   Palma will be arraigned March 18th in Avon Town Court.
