Changes coming to Alfred University

Dr. Doreen Edwards, who has been dean of the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University since 2009 and acting vice president for statutory affairs since 2014, has accepted a new position as dean of the Kate Gleason College of Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology, effective July 1. “Doreen Edwards has contributed greatly to Alfred University during her career as a professor, academic, and administrative leader, and she will definitely be missed by all of us. Although we will be sad at her departure in July, all Alfredians extend their best wishes for the next phase of her life,” said Alfred University President Charles M. Edmondson. For Edwards, the decision to leave AU was difficult, although she’s excited about the challenges ahead at the larger school. “I’m sad to be leaving Alfred University,” she said. “It’s been my academic home for over 18 years. I look forward to maintaining strong personal and professional connections with the faculty, staff and alumni.”
