Farmersville animal cruelty arraignment adjourned - Times Herald

FARMERSVILLE — Arraignment of a Farmersville couple charged with 24 counts of animal cruelty was adjourned for one week Tuesday night in Farmersville Town Court.

The Cattaraugus County SPCA had cited Donald and Bonnie George of Elton Road on the charges last month and seized in place about 600 animals — many living in filthy conditions — at their farm.About 10 protesters, many of them SPCA volunteers helping to care for the animals, carried signs outside the court. They read: “Stop the George’s (sic) cruelty & abuse. Convict and remove & animals.” Another read: “Justice for the animals.”

The SPCA filed a petition with Town Justice Shane Krotje seeking nearly $40,000 for the care of the animals for 30 days, said Eric Firkel, a Bradford, Pa., attorney and member of the SPCA Board of Directors. Click the link for more...
