I-390 deputies: Wellsville woman had heroin

INTERSTATE 390 AVON: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Wellsville woman for drug related charges stemming from a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon.  On Monday February 29th, Deputy Shawn Whitford, assigned to Operation Safe Interstate, conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Avon on Interstate 390 due to equipment violations.  According to a press release, the operator of the vehicle identified herself as Britnie M. French-Lawson, 22 of Wellsville NY. While speaking with French-Lawson, Deputy Whitford allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deputies said French-Lawson admitted to having marijuana in her possession. Upon further investigation and a search of the vehicle, heroin was found as well as a hypodermic needle.  French-Lawson was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Vehicle and Traffic Infractions.  French-Lawson was transported to the Livingston County Jail where she was turned over to jail personnel for processing and arraignment.  French-Lawson was arraigned in Avon Town Court on February 29th before Judge Torregiano.  French-Lawson was remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $250 cash or $500 bond.
