Olean police need public help in attempted bank robbery

The Olean Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit would like the assistance from the public regarding an attempted bank robbery that occurred March 17th at approximately 11:10 a.m. at the Five Star bank located at 124 W. State Street in the city. Police are requiesting that anyone who was in the area of the bank at that time and may have seen a black male, approximately 6 foot tall wearing blue jeans, a dark colored hooded sweat shirt call the Olean Police Dept. at 716-376-5677 or the Criminal Unit at 376-5673. The suspect ran north from the bank on N. 1st. . All calls can be kept confidential. Video from the bank and surrounding routes of travel by the perpetrator are still being collected and analyzed and police may post a photo on the departments Facebook page soon.
