Scio man faces a dozen charges after Wellsville Police chase

Wellsville Police on Wednesday arrested Dustin J. Leitzell, age 25 of Scio, charging him with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd, Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd, Improper or Unsafe turn without signal, Unsafe Start, Reckless Driving, Passed Red Light, Moved from Lane Unsafely, Failure to Comply, Failure to use Designated Lane, Speed in Zone and Misuse of Dealer/Transporter Plates.  The charges stem from an incident that began on North Main Street in the village on March 23rd. It resulted in a police chase involving Wellsville police and state police and took officers from Wellsville to Scio to Alma and back. The chase ended when the vehicle drove onto the railroad tracks in Scio, at which time the driver fled the scene. State police had previously arrested Leitzell on their charges regarding the chase. When he posted bail at jail, he was taken into custody on a Wellsville detainer warrant. He was transported from the Allegany County Jail to the Wellsville Police Department.  Leitzell was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Judge O’Connor.  Leitzell was released, and is due back in Wellsville Village Court on May 17th at 4:30 p.m.
