Senator Young opposes "supervised injection facilites" for heroin users

A Manhattan Assemblywoman wants to give heroin addicts and other drug users a state-sanctioned place to inject drugs. Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, a Democrat, says she plans to introduce legislation legalizing “supervised injection facilities” for users to self-administer drugs under the supervision of medical staff. However, Senator Cathy Young (R,C-Olean) says she strongly opposes the plan. She released the following statement this morning:
I will fight this terrible idea. Taxpayer-funded drug dens will only worsen the heroin crisis and would be a colossal waste of money. The best approach is to tackle prevention and treatment, and prosecute dealers to the fullest extent.
