Steuben County: Woman charged in connection with fatal fire

Wayland - The ongoing investigation into a New Galen Road house fire that claimed the life of David N. O’Dell, 60, has resulted in the arrest of a Wayland woman.  Senior State Police Investigator Curt Eaton tells RNN that on February 15th, 2016, multiple fire departments responded to the early morning fire in the Town of Wayland, which initiated a joint investigation by the New York State Police, the Steuben Co. Fire Investigation Team, and the N.Y.S. Office of Fire Prevention and Control.  Iryn B. Meyers, 37, of 10014 State Route 21 in Wayland has been charged with Falsifying Business Records, 1st degree, a class “E” felony, for allegedly providing false information to investigators.  Meyers was arraigned before Town of Avoca Justice Pat McMahon and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 cash bail, or $50,000.00 property bond.  She is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Avoca Court on April 13th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Eaton said the investigation into the fire in continuing.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the New York State Police at 585-728-5007, or Steuben Co. 911.
