Wellsville: Village close to eliminating residential trash pickup

The village of Wellsville could decide by the end of the month whether or not it will continue its residential trash collection. Wellsville Mayor Judy Lynch told RNN exclusively tonight that the village is "seriously" considering the elimination of the local trash collection service. Lynch said the village board is actively negotiating with a private hauler to assume the service. When asked if village jobs would be eliminated, Lynch said she was not at liberty to fully discuss the issue, noting that it was still under discussion. While not identifying a potential contractor, she said it was an area business. Lynch told RNN that the village board may decide the issue at its next board meeting March 28. The Mayor said the village was considering the move to reduce local costs.
