Wellsville: Village talks cat control - corrected

Wellsville Trustee Jamie Herman told village board members Monday night that feral cats are a growing problem in the village...and he's hearing about it. Herman said in response to citizen complaints, he's begun researching the issue. Herman said he has reviewed a Hornell law dealing with cats but said that would not likely work in Wellsville. Herman said while the issue of dealing with feral cats isn't likely a village board issue, it is a "village issue." Several board members added that they are aware of the 'cat problem' in Wellsville. Mayor Judy Lynch said there is "nothing we can do about it." Herman said he plans to reach out to the group, Allegany County Trap, Neuter, Return, for assistance. Herman said he also plans to speak with town officials.
