Allegany County Sheriff: Overtime costs down

Allegany County Sheriff Rick Whitney says overtime costs are down noticeably compared with a year ago. In his March monthly report to county lawmakers, Whitney said OT hours were down 673 when compared with the same period in 2015. Whitney's office also generated about $202,000 last month. As for the jail population last month, the average daily population was 132, housed in was 70 (these are the federal inmates and inmates from other counties that we generate income from) average Local inmates was 62.
Meanwhile the Civil Division handled 121 cases and collected nearly $55,000 in fines, bail, etc..
