Batavia house fire kills elderly man

A fast moving house fire killed an elderly Batavia man this morning. Town of Batavia firefighters were called out at 5:30 a.m. for the blaze on route 98. Roger Saile, 90, was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire. According to the dailynewsonline.com, firefighters found Saile dead in the kitchen. “The kitchen faucets were on when they found him and we think he may have gone into the kitchen to get water to put it out,” Timothy Yaeger, Genesee County Emergency Management Services coordinator said.
The home was destroyed. The cause remains under investigation. Dailynewsonline.com also reported that Saile was the grandfather of a Genesee County sheriff’s deputy.
