Long Island teen faces child porn charges in Steuben County

On March 31, 2016 Long Island-based New York State Police investigators arrested a 17-year old individual from Levittown, NY (Nassau County) for the felonies of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, Disseminating Indecent Material to a Child 2nd, Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, as well as Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor. 
The arrest is the culmination of a year-long investigation by the New York State Police in Wayland and Long Island into an encounter the 17-year old had with a then 9-year old female from Wayland by means of social media.  The 17-year old was alleged to have solicited, received, and subsequently sent inappropriate images back and forth between him and the female via Facebook Messenger. 
The 17-year old was arrested at his home in Levittown and is currently incarcerated in Steuben County Jail on a County Court warrant, and is awaiting arraignment.
The New York State Police in Wayland received assistance in this investigation from the Wayland Police Department, NYSP Computer Crimes Unit (Troop E - Canandaigua), NYSP Computer Crimes Unit (Troop L – Brentwood), and the Steuben County DA’s Office.
