Obituary: James A. George, 62, Cuba

CUBA — James A. George, of Witter Road, passed away Saturday (April 9, 2016). Born on May 23, 1953, in Olean, he was a son of the late Norman and Gertrude Frederick George. On July 28, 1974, in Allegany, he married the former Denise Roulo, who survives. A graduate of Olean High School, he worked at Clark Bros. and then the city of Olean until his retirement. He was an avid New York Yankees fan; enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle, woodworking and painting; and loved his Corvette. “Jimmy Jam” always had a way of making people laugh. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brian (Amy) George of Olean; a daughter, Beth George of Olean; eight grandchildren, Sierra, Halee, Blayre, Brielle, Brock, Deven, Alysa and Ethen; one brother, William George of Olean; three sisters, Dorothy (Danny) Hirt of Allegany, Linda (John) Kemp of Olean and Barbara (Lee) Riggs of Allegany; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-inlaw, Edna George of Olean and Joyce (Mike) Keller of Rochester; and two brothers-inlaw, Larry Bartz of Arcade and Lloyd (Anne) Bennett of Olean. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Mickey George; and a sister, Nancy Bartz. Family will receive friends Wednesday (April 13, 2016) at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the funeral home at 9 p.m. The Rev. Wes Gilbert will officiate.
