River rescue in Bath

The Steuben Regional Technical Rescue Team swift water units, which include Bath Fire, the Bath VA Center Fire and South Corning Fire, were dispatched at 1:58 a.m. this morning, April 7th, to the Cohocton River near Belfast Street in the Village of Bath. The Bath Village Police called the team for a man in the river. After a search of the river, which included a hovercraft from the South Corning Fire the team, rescuers found the man chest deep in the river. Two members of the Rescue team from Bath, Mark Conrad and Mike Fiordo, entered into the river with a floating stokes rescue basket and brought the man to safety. Lifenet 77 Medical Helicopter was called. The man was then flown to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. His status is unknown at this time. All units were clear from the scene at 3:57a.m.
