Steuben Co. Looking at Solar Panels

In an effort to lower costs, the Steuben County Public Works Department is reportedly looking into installing solar panels at select shops.  Public Works Commissioner Vince Spagnoletti said his department is looking at solar energy as a way to reduce future utility costs at the department’s eight shops, landfill and transfer stations.  This is only the latest move by the department to try and be more environmentally conscious.  In the past, it has partnered with Steuben Rural Electric for a gas-to-energy plant, expanded its recycling program, and it uses sheep to mow the landfill.
