Wind turbines proposed for Potter County, PA

Big Level Wind LLC of New Hampshire is planning to develop as many as 26 wind turbines off route 49 in Hector Township. The proposed developed has been in the works for about one year. While Hector Township officials haven't heard any complaints, at least one Potter County Commissioner says he's heard some rumblings. Township Secretary Bonnie French told The Era “we can use the tax income. We haven’t seen any downers” over the project. According to The Era, the township is expected to receive an upfront tax payment of $75,000. There will also be an annual payment, based on $2,250 per megawatt generated, and the township would receive that money, minus other taxes. A public meeting on the project is expected in the near future, although no date has been set yet.
