Allegany County Sheriff: Another successful "pill drop"

Allegany County Sheriff Rick Whitney reports that the Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Partners for Prevention in Allegany County (PPAC) and the Cuba Police Department, conducted pill drops on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. at the Wellsville Campus of Alfred State College and Cuba Fire Department. The pill drops were staffed by members of the Sheriff’s Office, officers of the Cuba Police Department, Cuba EMS personnel, pharmacists from Jones Memorial Hospital, members from Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (ACASA) and members of Partners for Prevention in Allegany County, a Drug Free Communities Coalition.

The event collected a total of 271.8 pounds of medication including 5,414 Narcotic doses with a conservative estimated street value of over $50,000.00. Over and over again, these efforts show that “Prevention Works” through the continued collaboration in Allegany County and its efforts to keep drugs off the streets and out of the hands of our children.
Permanent Pill Drop Boxes are available at the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office (available 24/7), the Wellsville and Cuba Police Departments and Alfred State College Public Safety, as long as the lobby hours are open to the public and at the Fillmore Pharmacy.  For more information contact the Sheriff’s Office at (585) 268-9200 or visit www.ppaccentral.org.
Sheriff Whitney wishes to thank all the agencies who assisted the Sheriff’s Office with the planning and implementation of the events including: the Cuba Fire Department, the Cuba Police Department, Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Jones Memorial Hospital and Partners for Prevention in Allegany County.
