Belfast man released on bail - faces manslaughter, others charges

A Belfast man has been released on bail after appearing in an Erie County court room Thursday. Kevin McCabe, 32, posted $10,000. He pleaded not guilty to indictments that charge him with manslaughter, vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors allege that McCabe was under the influence of drugs last October when his vehicle slammed into the rear of a tractor trailer on route 16 in Chaffee October 8, 2015. McCabe's son Tristan, 4, died the day after the crash. His niece Katie, 7, was injured and McCabe was in a coma for days after the crash. The Belfast man was also ordered by a judge to wear an ankle bracelet. Further court action is scheduled for June 3rd.
