NY: Challenge to Law Against Farm Workers Organizing

Tuesday, the New York Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit that challenges a state law forbidding farm workers from organizing.  The suit was filed in Albany on behalf of an agricultural worker who said he was fired from his job at an upstate dairy farm after employers saw him meeting with other workers to discuss working conditions.  According to a WVIN radio news report, the New York State Constitution guarantees workers the right to organize without fear of retaliation, but farm workers are specifically exempt.
