Curt D. Ranger, 90, of the Turnpike Road, passed away Monday (May 23, 2016) at Olean General Hospital.
Born in Hornell, July 25, 1925, the son of Frank and Ida Lyke Ranger, he had resided in Hornell his entire life. He attended both Almond and Alfred –Almond schools. Curt was a well known farmer in the Hornell area, operating a dairy farm most all his life on the Turnpike Road. He also served for several years as director of the Steuben Rural Electric.
He was a member of the former Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Hornell and had served the church as both Elder and Trustee. In recent years he attended the Canisteo Wesleyan Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, his three sisters; Myrtle Ranger, Betty Lemen, and Roberta Nicholson, his brother, Clarence Ranger, and his niece, Karen Fay (Keith) Mullen.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Canfield Ranger, sisters-in-law, Eleanor Young and Ruth Tompkins both of Wellsville, nieces and nephews including Charles Nicholson, Frank Nicholson, Barb (Ralph) Kalberloh, C. Henry (Sharon) Ranger, Judy (Jay) Isabelle, Carol (Carl D.) Williams, Sandy (Gordie) Hollenbough, James “Skip” (Jill) Lemen and Kevin (Linda) Lemen, as well as several grand nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday (June 3, 2016) from 1 until 2 p.m. at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. A memorial service will follow calling at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donald Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
