Angelica - Charles D. Crawford, 77, of 101 East Main Street, passed away peacefully, Wednesday (May 18, 2016) at Cuba Memorial Hospital, where he loved living for the past couple years.
Born in Olean, September 27, 1938, he graduated from Portville High School “Class of 1957,” and later Olean Business Institute with an Associate’s Degree. Charles had served in the US Army, and later worked for various grocery stores, including the former Loblaw’s later changing to Bells supermarkets, and also Giant Food Mart in Wellsville. Charles enjoyed gardening, flowers, drawing, coloring, bingo, arts and crafts, and attending church services at the Cuba nursing home. His grandson Nino was the light of his life, and enjoyed the quality time they spent together.
He is survived by his beloved grandson Nino Crawford, also surviving is his son Timothy Crawford of Angelica, his wife Gerda Pfleger Crawford, whom he married October 31, 1963. He is also survived by his family and friends at the nursing home in Cuba.
The family will be present 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Avenue, Angelica, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Father Dennis Mancuso officiating.
