Obituary: Delores R. Gloss, 78, Wellsville


WELLSVILLE – Delores R. Gloss, 78, passed away Sunday (May 15, 2016) at Highland Park Nursing Center in Wellsville, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Gloss was born on Nov. 2, 1937 in Hammondsport to Donald and Dorothy (St. John) McGillivray. She attended Andover Central School. On July 20, 1990, she married Harold Gloss, who predeceased her on Feb. 2, 2010.
Delores dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a stay at home Mom who provided a loving home life for her children. Later she was instrumental in the nurture of her grandchildren, a role that she truly loved.
Delores is survived by two sons, Donald Lehman of Andover and Jimmy (Paula) Lehman of Campbell; five daughters, Christina (Steve) Phelps of Scio, Brenda Capluzzi of Smithfield, N.C., Sue (Dennis) Yarbrough of Raleigh, N.C. and Toni (Larry) Wilson and Lisa Lehman, both of Willow Springs, N.C.; two brothers, Dennis McGillivray of Wellsville and David McGillivray of Rochester; three sisters, Jackie (Leroy) Avery of Cohocton, Marilyn Bresee of Bath and Sharon Nestoryak of Wellsville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Lehman and a grandson, Eric Lehman.
Delores loved listening to Elvis songs and was a great fan. She enjoyed the challenge of a good card game and the relaxation of dancing. Additionally, she was a member of the Wellsville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Wellsville VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Wellsville Moose Lodge.
These interests paled when compared to her true joy of spending time with her family. Her most treasured memories were centered around babysitting her grandchildren, family cookouts, and the many trips to the camp.
There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 3256 Riverside Drive in Wellsville. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Chris Mattison of the Andover Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Andover. Online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.
