Obituary: Rhea E. Faulkner, 101, Scio UPDATED

SCIO — Rhea E. Faulkner, formerly of 3585 Riverside Drive, passed away Thursday (May 5, 2016) at Highland Park Healthcare Center, Wellsville, after a brief illness. Born June 15, 1914, in Smethport, Pa., she was a daughter of the late James T. and Edna Adeline Stives Chisholm. On Sept. 9, 1932, in Little Genesee, she married Roland Baker Faulkner, who passed away March 4, 1982. Before her marriage, she was employed at the Olean Tile plant. She was a member of the Scio Church of Christ. Rhea loved crocheting, playing triominoes with her family, cards, the game Skip-Bo and doing puzzles. Surviving are three sons, Roland Faulkner of Arizona, Reginald R. (Judy) Faulkner of Scio and Paul B. Faulkner of Washington; more than 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; a brother, Reginald Chisholm of Sonora, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, David Lee Faulkner; two daughters, Donna Rae Gerhardt and Denise Ann Hodgkins; and three brothers, Earl, John and James Chisholm. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (May 12, 2016) in the funeral home. The Rev. Glen Layfield, evangelist minister of Scio Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., Syracuse, NY 13057.
