PA: Wellsboro man killed in Saturday morning crash in Delmar Township

Pennsylvania State Police say a Wellsboro man was killed Saturday morning when vehicle he was driving crashed on Stony Fork Road near SR 3006 in Delmar Township, Tioga County. Troopers said Corey A. Starkweather, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was reported at 1:36 a.m. Troopers said Starkweather was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed when he lost control on a curve, sending the vehicle into a spin. Police said his Ford Focus then left the roadway, struck a ditch, flipping the vehicle onto the passenger side. The vehicle's roof then impacted a tree. According to Trooper Kurtis Benjamin, "the force of this impact was so great that the engine...was complete dislodged." Starkweather was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by deputy Coroner Jim Daugherty. Wellsboro fire assisted at the scene.
