Three hurt in Olean house fire

Three people were injured in a fire that destroyed a home on West Sullivan Street in Olean last night. Firefighters received the call just after 8pm and when they arrived, the house at 313 West Sullivan was engulfed in flames. Alicia Vaughn and Vontey Johnson along with an infant were all taken to Olean General Hospital. Johnson was later airlifted to another hospital for treatment of burns. Two other young children were not hurt. Officials said Johnson was burned when he raced back into the burning home to rescue the infant child. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Tax records show the home is owned by Richard C. Middaugh of Alma.
