Advice on Medicare B & D assistance available from Steuben Office for the Aging

BATH -- The Steuben County Office for the Aging said Medicare recipients will be receiving letters from the Social Security Administration about financial assistance for Medicare parts B and D.
The “Medicare Savings Program” (MSP) pays the Part B premium for eligible recipients, whose monthly gross unearned income is less than $1,357 for an individual and less than $1,823 for a couple.

County OFA officials said they can help determine eligibility, apply, enroll, and even understand how to use new benefits once they’ve been approved.
The Medicare Savings Program also provides automatic enrollment in the “Extra Help” program which lowers the Medicare Part D prescription plan costs. Additional partial assistance also is available for income-eligible Medicare Part D recipients.
