BELMONT — County legislators are putting in $34,000 for a year with the goal of consolidating its web presence to one site.
Lawmakers Monday approved a one-year services agreement with Mason Digital, LLC to upgrade the county’s website. When the upgrades are finished, the new county website address will be
“This website will not have to be maintained by outside (parties). It will be brought in (under the county control),” said Legislator Debra Root. “It actually will save the county money.”
Legislator David Pullen said for many people who don’t live in Allegany County and for some who do, the primary contact with the county is via the Internet.
“This (the $34,000 contract cost) is not much for what it could mean for our county. I strongly recommend this move forward,” he said.
Root said there are currently several different URLs at which county information may be found. “We have the government site, we have economic development, the tourism site is a whole site of its own. There are a couple of other ones,” she said after the Board of Legislators meeting.
Root said the upgrades will start with bringing economic development and county site under www., with others to follow.
“After the year, it will save us on outside, out-of- pocket costs,” she said.
