Caneadea man charged with felony aggravated DWI

On June 6, 2016, Troopers arrested John W. Hawley, 36, of Caneadea, NY for Felony Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.
Troopers stopped Hawley on Ballard Road in the Town of Hume for not wearing a seatbelt.  While Hawley was being interviewed, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected, troopers said.  Standard Field Sobriety Tests were conducted which Hawley subsequently failed, according to a press release.  He was arrested and transported to SP Fillmore for processing where he recorded a 0.21% BAC.  The vehicle Hawley was operating at the time of the arrest was uninspected, and the registration of the vehicle was expired and suspended.  Hawley also had an open alcoholic beverage container in the vehicle.  Hawley had also been convicted of Driving While Intoxicated within the previous ten years, making his current charge a Felony.   Hawley was issued tickets and is scheduled to appear before the Town of Hume Court on June 9, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
