Former Hinsdale judge receives probation in theft, misconduct case

The former Hinsdale Town Justice was sentenced to three years probation in Cattaraugus County court Monday. Jennifer Sullivan, a/k/a Jennifer Witzigman, 36, of Olean was convicted of official misconduct and petty larceny while serving on the bench. A state audit in 2011 revealed missing funds totaling about $5,400. A judge also ordered her to serve 100 hours of community service. Sullivan was on the bench for less than two years. She resigned shortly after the state audit was performed.
Prosecutors said she knowingly refrained from performing a duty which was imposed upon her by law or was clearly inherent in the nature of her office and stole property.
