Memorial Day crash closes a portion of U.S. Route 6

No injuries were reported when two big rigs collided Monday morning on route 6 in Roulette Township. Troopers said 39-year-old Steven Childs of Little Genesee became distracted, causing his Freightliner to cross the road and strike the side of an oncoming Mack truck. The impact caused severe damage to the trailer and cargo. The collision also caused a tire to be torn from the Mack truck. The tire became airborne and struck the windshield of a third vehicle. Route 6 was closed for several hours. Troopers charged Childs with failing to stay in lane.
