NYS Seeks Legislation To Allow Younger Organ Donors

The New York State legislature is working on a bill that would allow 16-17 year olds to choose whether or not they wished to be organ or tissue donors. At this current point in time New York is one of only five states to require all organ donors to be at least 18 before signing consent. But following a steady string of low organ donations and over 10,000 state residents waiting on the transplant list, it was decided that a change needed to be made. The bill will now go to Governor Cuomo in order to get final approval.
