Obituary: Claude L. Austin, Jr., 68, Bolivar

BOLIVAR — Claude L. Austin Jr., of 161 Salt Rising Road, passed away Saturday (June 25, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a brief illness. Born Dec. 4, 1947, in Wellsville, he was the son of Claude L. and Mabel Margeson Austin Sr. On Aug. 23, 1967, in Edenton, N.C., he married Linda A. Geffers, who survives. Claude was a graduate of Wellsville High School and was employed at Acme Electric Co. in Cuba for 38 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and gardening. He also enjoyed camping at Sunny Hill campsite. He especially cherished his time with family. Surviving besides his wife are his dearly loved children, Jeffery (Melanie) Austin of Bolivar, Kenny (Kelli) Austin of Converse, Ind., Scott (Michelle) Austin of New Market, Md., and Stephen (Erin) Austin of Cuba; 11 beloved grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Lois Jean White and Mary Predmore. The family will received friends for a memorial visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday (June 28, 2016) at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., 554 South Main St. Bolivar.
