WELLSVILLE — Gary W. “Whistler” Ingalls, 71, of the Bolivar Road, passed away in his home on Sunday (June 12, 2016).
He was born in Wellsville on July 13, 1944, the son of William A. and Hazel Brown Ingalls.
On Nov. 19, 1977, in Stannards, N.Y., he married Barbara Halsey, who survives him.
He was a graduate of the Scio Central School and retired from the U.S. Army after serving for 24 years.
He later retired from the Air Preheater Corp. in Wellsville, where he was both a crane and saw operator.
He enjoyed electronics and for many years operated the Town and Country Communications Shop in Scio. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, C.B. Radios and was known as an avid outdoorsman.
Surviving besides his wife, Barbara, are a daughter, Jody (Michael) Vannatter of North Bingham, Pa.; sons, Steven Ingalls of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Kevin Ingalls of Oneida, N.Y.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville on Saturday (June 18, 2016) from 1 until 3 p.m., when Memorial Services will be held with Rev. Carl Kemp of the Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church officiating, followed by full military honors rendered by members of the Wellsville American Legion Post 702. Burial will be at the family's convenience.
