ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's and women's swimming and diving teams have received Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The Bonnies women posted a 3.44 cumulative GPA during the spring semester while the men's team recorded a 3.13.
To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the Spring semester.
"This is a welcome change to the headlines that have dominated intercollegiate athletics in recent weeks," explained CSCAA executive director Joel Shinofield, "In reality, however, this is what we've come to expect in our sport. These programs are the incubators of our Olympic success and they compete at the highest level at some of our most prestigious institutions. The hard work and dedication they learn at the pool translates directly to their success in the classroom and beyond regardless of division."
Fourteen members of the St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team were named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll this month – Lauren Anderson, Adelyn Graf, Shannon Haberman, Brittany Hart, Taylor Hodges, Bridget Jordan, Tanja Kirmse, Samantha Kuchinski, Elizabeth Malone, Devon McFadden, Emily Quinn, Maria Rocchi, Michaela Ryan and Kathryn Winterburn. From the men's teams, seven Bonnies earned the honor – Gregory Byrne, Thomas Caulfield, Edward Donovan, Kevin Grant, Jordan Powers, William Schilling and Aiden Wilson.
