Wellsville: Patriot Guard, veterans, say goodbye to Leonard Lewis

In Wellsville Wednesday, at 11:30 a.m., the blue sky was quickly overtaken by a rain shower...but that didn't discourage members of the Patriot Guard Riders of New York and local veterans groups from saying farewell to one of their own. Leonard "Lenny" Lewis was laid to rest today. Leonard died June 1st at the age of 90. Throughout his long life, Lenny was a leader and active member of several civic, professional, and veteran organizations. These included but are not limited to: Post 702 of the American Legion; former Chaplain of the American Legion Riders Club in Wellsville; VFW and the Patriot Guard. The list goes on and on...
With threatening skies and a brisk wind, the Patriot Guard Riders (one traveling from Orchard Park), American Legion and VFW did what they do so often...say goodbye to a friend and fellow veteran. Even students from the Immaculate Conception School in Wellsville walked out, hands over their hearts, to say goodbye to a man the kids likely never knew. The pictures posted below show just brief moments of Lenny's final journey.
