Alfred’s Hot Dog Day yields $10,150 for area charities

ALFRED, NY (July 7, 2016) – Hot Dog Day, a 44-year tradition in the Village of Alfred, yielded $10,150 in proceeds to be divided equally among seven area charities, said Patricia Debertolis, assistant dean for new student programs at Alfred University and one of the advisors for the organizers.
Each year, students from Alfred University and Alfred State College combine their efforts for the annual celebration to raise money for charities that benefit the community.
Recipients this year include the A.E. Crandall Hook and Ladder Co., the Box of Books Library, and the Alfred Montessori School, all in Alfred, as well as the Allegany County Mental Health Association, the Allegany Senior Foundation, the ACCORD Corporation and the Genesee Valley Habitat for Humanity.
