ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y., July 15, 2016 — St. Bonaventure University’s master’s degree programs in counseling have been ranked the second-best value in New York by topcounselingschools.org.
St. Bonaventure offers graduate programs in school counseling, clinical mental health counseling, and rehabilitation counseling at its main campus in Allegany and at its Buffalo Center, located at Hilbert College in Hamburg.
“The ranking simply reflects what we’ve believed for a long time — that we have a great counseling program that’s worth the investment,” said Dr. Nancy Casey, interim dean of the School of Education.
The website ranked only those institutions accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP). It then ranked the schools based on their program completion rate, job placement rate, licensing exam pass rate, accreditation length, research productivity, and tuition and fees.
“St. Bonaventure University makes earning a nationally recognized degree in counseling a convenient and stress-free experience. It also makes it an affordable one,” the website said.
“SBU’s #2 ranking is a reflection of its competitive tuition and generous scholarship programs through the School of Education. For most students, these merit- and need-based scholarships can comprise up to 20 percent of tuition every year, while those who work in Catholic schools or organizations could see a full 30 percent taken off their tuition bills.”
For those wishing to learn more about all the programs SBU offers at its Buffalo Center, an open house is scheduled for Saturday, July 23.
The event, Bona In Action, runs from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and includes a campus tour as well as the opportunity to sit in on a class and meet faculty and students. Coffee and doughnuts will be served.
