Court rejects appeal from Allegany County man, sides with DA

Original story, May 9, 2014: A (then)25-year old Fillmore man who fled to Ohio while on probation will spend up to five years in a New York State Prison. The sentence was handed down to Alva Rinker Jr. of Lapp Road. Rinker was convicted last month on a felony charge of Reckless Endangerment after a shooting incident and was place on probation. However, the man, without permission or notice traveled to Ohio where police picked him up as a Fugitive From Justice. Charged with a probation violation, Judge Thomas Brown sentenced Rinker to 2 1/2 to 5 years in state prison.
